Harper & Midwest Kind have had to unfortunately cancel their May 2010 UK tour. In a message sent to this Agency yesterday (04/02/2010), Harper expressed their regret for this cancellation writing:
“To all our UK fans, Clubs and festivals, due to unforeseen circumstances, Harper and his band Midwest Kind will be cancelling their upcoming Spring tour. It is with a heavy heart that we write these words. Due to the sudden down turn in the US economy, we have had to cut back our international touring schedule in 2010. We apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you all.”
The Movinmusic Agency has contacted all affected venues and would like to sincerely apologise to Harper's fans and the venues and festivals that booked him for this tour.
An amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music, Australian singer/ songwriter "Harper" creates a heady mix of roots music through his creative use of the harp, and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo. Borrowing from western and world music, this musical visionary develops a highly original take on the roots genre.
2009 is going to be Harper & Midwest Kind's biggest year yet with 30 + major festivals, many of which he will be headlining in five different countries. His latest CD "Day By Day" (Blind Pig Records) has received world wide acclaim and international air play. "Harper's vocals are often howls of pain. Harper's music is primal. It goes way inside, creating honest, deeply felt emotions. It is joyful and painful at the same time. And another thing -- Harper's music is essential" (Rambles Magazine, USA)
On his most recent UK tour Harper & Midwest Kind's live show was described as " strong, expressive, at times pain- ridden vocals were interspersed with some top class electronic harp playing and the unearthly and soul wrenching call of the didgeridoo" (Blues Matters, United Kingdom, 2008). During this tour a Harper & Midwest Kind live session was aired world wide on BBC London on the Paul Jones Show. Harper & Midwest Kind's killer tour schedule of 250+ shows per year has gained him a grassroots US and international following.
Harper is a multi award winning singer/ songwriter in Australia- winning awards for "Best Male Vocalist" "Song of the Year", "Band of the Year" - (Australian Blues Awards) and "Acoustic Artist of Year"-(TREV awards). Harper is backed by his incredible Michigan based band "Midwest Kind". For further information check out Harper's website: www.harper.biz or www.myspace.com/harperband or www.youtube.com/harperband
